How to Become a Licensed Real Estate Agent in Michigan
- Complete 40 hours of pre-licensing education — Michigan requires 40 hours of approved coursework before you can sit for the state exam.
- Pass the Michigan Real Estate Salesperson Exam — a two-part exam covering national real estate principles and Michigan-specific law.
- Choose a sponsoring broker — you must hang your license with a licensed Michigan broker before you can legally practice.
- Activate your license — submit your application to the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) and you're official.
